Roborock S8 vs S7 – In search of the best robot hoover from Roborock

Roborock S8 vs S7

If we talk about Roborock, you probably know that we are talking about robot hoovers, among other cleaning appliances. The Asian company has managed to carve out an important niche in the market thanks to its strategy based on innovation, technology and efficiency. And, although it is not the cheapest brand on the market, it does not have prices as high as Roomba. So that you can see all its advantages, we show you a comparison between Roborock S8 vs S7.

Roborock S8 vs S7: What’s similar?

Here are the most important similarities:

Scrubbing with VibraRise technology

Another of the most striking similarities between the two robots is that they are capable of vacuuming and scrubbing simultaneously, for which they are equipped with a water tank of about 300 ml capacity. Both robots also use VibraRise technology for scrubbing, which allows them to intensify the pressure when scrubbing and remove dirt more effectively.

Several different models

One of the similarities between the two ranges of robot hoovers is that they both have several models to choose from: the standard model, the Pro model and the Ultra model, each with their own unique features. This range of options present in the S7 is also maintained in the S8. In fact, in both cases it is possible to choose the model that incorporates a self-emptying base.

Battery life

The length of time we can use the Roborock S8 is the same as for the Roborock S7: approximately 3 hours. This will depend on how intensively we clean, but there is no difference in terms of battery capacity. There is also a «Recharge and return» option in both cases, so that the robot goes to the charge base by itself when it detects that its battery is about to run out and it has not finished cleaning.

Mobile App

Either robot can be operated via the Roborock mobile app, where you can change the cleaning parameters, customise the map, perform intelligent space management or schedule the start of the activity.

Orderly and planned navigation

In both cases, laser technology is the driving force, which ensures intelligent route planning and maximum space optimisation. Thanks to the laser system, they can also carry out a real-time mapping of your home, as well as storing the maps for later customisation.

Noise level

We also found no difference in the noise level of the two robots, as both emit an acoustic power of up to 67 decibels, staying below 68 decibels, at which point we consider that a robot is no longer silent.

Roborock S8 vs S7: Main differences

In this section, we continue to analyse the most important differences between the two cleaning robots:

Reactive AI technology

One of the differences we see between the new Roborock and the previous model is the incorporation of Reactive AI and PreciSense technology, a technology with which the robot, in addition to moving by laser, is able to detect objects intelligently. This is thanks to the inclusion of a 3D camera that complements the laser navigation mapping.

Tank capacity

We continue talking about the differences between the two hoovers, highlighting that, in this case, it is the Roborock S7 that wins in terms of tank capacity. This model has a 470 ml dry waste tank, up from the S8’s 400 ml.

Suction power

Another major new feature of the Roborock S8 is the brand’s qualitative leap in suction power. The Roborock S8 reaches up to 6000 Pascals, up from the 2500 Pascals that the previous model, the S7, can achieve. In this way, the S8 more closely resembles the company’s most recent robot hoovers, which have been progressively increasing their suction power.

More complete cleaning brush

Roborock has decided to take another leap in quality when it comes to the main brush, incorporating the DuoRoller brush into the S8. This brush is double, and has two rubber rollers that rotate in different directions, pulling all the dirt into the suction hole. This makes the vacuuming more effective, as the two brushes work bi-directionally and capture much more dirt.

Roborock S8 vs S7: Which one should we choose?

Finally, we have to determine which of the two is more worthwhile. It should be noted that the Roborock S8 is not yet on sale on Amazon, and we will have to wait to see what its final retail price is. However, in terms of technical features and functionality, we can assure you that the company has introduced numerous improvements in the S8 compared to the S7.

In fact, the Roborock S8 competes more directly with the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra in terms of technical features. It is therefore clearly superior to the S7. The only thing that remains to be determined is whether the price difference is justified.

However, if you are looking for a vacuum cleaner with maximum efficiency that allows you to forget that there is a robot in the house, the Roborock S8 is a more advanced model, with more precise technologies and with a significant difference in terms of power. This increase in power, coupled with the excellent action of the two double brushes, guarantees a better result.

However, the Roborock S7 is also an excellent purchase option if you prefer to go for a model that, although not as advanced, is more economical.
